THREE suspects were on Tuesday arrested for allegedly killing a suspected thief in Hopley.

Memory Samushonga, 42, Norman Sunday, 56, and Bernard Kajune, 49, were reported to have assaulted Daniel Mafuruse to death after he was caught breaking into a Honda Fit vehicle at around 3am.

He ran away from the scene and residents teamed up, caught him and he was beaten to death.

He was 34.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case.

“Police arrested three suspects in connection with murder,” said Insp Chakanza.

“Circumstances are that on March 25, 2025 at around 3am, the informant was awakened by the noise of her barking dogs.

“As the noise persisted the informant peeped through the window and saw the now deceased trying to open a window of a Honda fit, which was parked at her neighbor’s house.

“The informant called for help and that is when the now deceased ran away and was caught by the people, who were around.

“He was beaten up by the mob and was left unconscious,” said Insp Chakanza.
