THREE players in the Bulawayo Christian League (BCL) will be vying for the top goal scorer award this weekend with only a single round of games left to wrap up the season.

Thabo Sibanda who managed to slot the ball at the back of the net 16 times for Flying Stars will be hoping to scoop the top scorer accolade but faces stiff competition from Tinashe Komani from High Point and Shylock Ndlovu of table toppers Sangano Revapostori.

The two players are on 15 goals and 14 goals respectively.

Sibanda failed to score in their last weekas encounter against House of Grace but hopes to rain in goals when they meet Grace Christian Church on Saturday.

a?I want to score about four or more goals this weekend so that even those behind me will find it difficult to catch up,a? said Sibanda.

He also has 10 league assists this season.

According to BCL official, Fungai Mundofa, the top scorer will walk away with a pair of soccer boots.

a?We are still sourcing the prizes and if everything goes according to plan, the golden boot award will also be accompanied by a medal and a Bible,a? Mundofa said.

Meanwhile, table toppers Sangano ReVapostori are the favourites to receive the team of the year accolade as they are currently sitting on 46 points with a game to go.

Flying Stars will be hoping to ruin Sanganoas chances as they are three points behind, but their chances are rather slim as Stars will have to win their last game by over eight goals and hope that table toppers fail this weekend.

The leagueas awards are set to take place on the 3rd of next month.
