Three solar-powered piped water schemes commissioned in Bulilima district

GOVERNMENT, through the Rural Infrastructural Development Agency (Rida) has commissioned three solar-powered piped water schemes in Bulilima district, Matabeleland South.

The solar-powered water schemes are in Bhorabhora and Kungubo villages under Chief Masendu and Manguba village under Chief Manguba.

The project is set to transform lives of over 2000 people as they now have access to an improved water supply.
Beneficiaries include local schools, households, business centres and dip tanks.

The installaton of the solar system powering the piped water scheme was completed last year. The projects were constructed by communities, Bulilima District Water Sanitaton Sub Committee in partnership with Save the

Children and GOAL through funding support from USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance under the “Integrated Nutrition, WASH and Protecton” project.

Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Albert Nguluvhe represented by the provincial permanent secretary Mrs Latiso Dlamini-Maseko commissioned the projects.

Also present is ICT Deputy Minister Dingumuzi Phuti who is the area legislator, Chief Manguba, senior Government officials and the community.
