Three women appeared in court on charges of defrauding their employer of more than US$7 000.
Mercy Vandira, 24, Dephine Nyamawanga, 20, and a juvenile aged 17 were remanded out of custody when they appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi.
They were ordered to appear in court on March 30 pending finalisation of the matter.
The complainant is the director of Bewell Investments Private Limited, operating as Gladys Wholesalers, located at Zimre Park, Ruwa.
The State said Vandira, Nyamawanga and the juvenile are former till operators at Gladys Wholesale. It is alleged that between August last year and last month, the trio connived to manipulate the computer till system by logging in using previous dates.
It is alleged that they conducted transactions of sale knowing that they were misrepresenting the sales of the day. The court heard that the trio used to duplicate receipts and convert the money to their own use.
Due to the misrepresentation, the trio took some groceries from the shop on various dates.
They ran out of luck when their employer was tipped off and he instituted an external audit. The audit revealed that the complainant lost US$7 124 and nothing was recovered.
Pardon Dziva led the State.
