star Sizzler on a single titled “Harare”.
The single, written by Sizzler, Tia and one Kemson, is currently making a stir on the local airwaves.
Tia said Sizzler first came up with the idea of the song after being impressed by what he saw in Zimbabwe after his visit last year.
“The idea of the song was originally from Sizzler and he wanted a local artiste to work with.
“I liked the idea behind the song and immediately agreed to working with him on the collaboration since he is a big and very experienced artiste,” Tia said.
She said she managed to hook up with the legendary Jamaican musician through a Jamaican music producer who is based in Zimbabwe.
“It was through Jamaican music producer, McGyver, who is based here in Zimbabwe that I hooked up with Sizzler.
“McGyver had heard my stuff before and recommended me for the duet,” she said.
The “Boy You Got To Know” hitmaker said it was an eye opening experience working with Sizzler on the single.
“It was a big challenge and at the same time very exciting working with such a big artiste.
“It was also a learning experience for me, I learnt a lot from him,” Tia said.
The song, as its title “Harare” suggests, speaks about being proud of where one comes from.
“You have to be proud of where you come from. Your career, future and everything else, is based on where you come from. You feel secure if you know your roots, no matter what people might say about you and your country,” she said.
“Big up Harare . . . big up everybody in Zimbabwe,” goes part of the lyrics in the song.
Meanwhile, the diva will launch her second studio album titled “Euphoria” on April 7 in the capital at a venue yet to be announced.
The 11-track album – that carries potential hits like “What A Feeling”, “Everything And More” and “Anything You Want” among others comes after her debut 2007 release, Spice It Up.
Tia said about the album: “It is a feel good album, a dance album about happiness, feeling free from depression. It carries a very fresh and vibrant sound,” she said.
Tia will be leaving the country end of April for her South African base where she had been pursuing studies in Communication and Media and also majoring in Criminology.
After completing the studies, Tia says she would get into music full time.
The songstress has also shared the stage with some top South African artistes like DJ Cndo, among others, apart from having her videos beamed on Channel O.
