Hard work pays off for Lerato Mvelase

Mvelase, who was nominated for an Emmy last year, says this year has started on a positive note.
After clinching a part in the show Sunjata, the actress has landed another role in Play Me. “This year has been good to me,” Mvelase says.
Play Me opens at the Market Theatre in Newtown on April 1 and features, amongst others, Fana Mokoena, Zandile Msutwana and Sello Sebotsane.
Mvelase, who portrays Julia says: “Play Me is about love, money, betrayal, friendship and greed” and “the show is very inspiring and educational”.
The actress also stars in the local film Life Above All.
The film recently won six awards at the South African Television and Film Awards.
The film scooped the best feature film, best director, best writing team, best feature film costume designer, best feature film actress and best feature film supporting actress.
Life Above All won the Prix Francois Chalais award at the Cannes Film Festival last year.
It took home the best South African film award and best actress award at Durban’s International Film Festival. – Sowetan.
