GIFFORD High School is set to host the Tilus Supermarket/Gifford Under-20 football invitational tournament tomorrow. The Tilus Supermarket-sponsored tournament has attracted a total of eight schools from Bulawayo which are Gifford High School, Mpopoma High School, Mzilikazi High School, Hamilton High School, Saint Columbus, Pumula High School, Luveve High School and Milton High School.

Gifford sports director Collet Murombo confirmed that the event would take place and that all of the eight schools have confirmed that they were going to participate in the inaugural event.

“We expect to kick off the first game at around 8AM and hopefully finish around 5PM for the presentation of the trophies by the sponsors,” said Murombo.

The sponsors have committed themselves to providing medals and equipment for prizes.

Five trophies will be presented to the winners, runners-up and the most outstanding players of the event.

“We intend helping the school children develop their skills and this is our way to give back to the community which has supported Tilus Supermarket,” said Priscilla Lambert for the sponsors.

The sponsors said they are eager to continue supporting schools sport.

“Tilus is eager to sponsor the event in the next three years,” she said.
