Dr Matibiri said tobacco was still coming in with the contractors still receiving high volumes. He said it was too early to close the selling season as tobacco was still coming in.

“We will only come up with closing dates if tobacco deliveries fall to about 200 000kg per day,” he said.
TIMB statistics show that 139,1 million kg of tobacco worth US$514 million have been sold since February. So far, contractors raked in 65 percent of the 2013 sales.
