of indigenous people, Zanu-PF Secretary for Indigenisation Cde Saviour Kasukuwere has said.
Cde Ksukuwere, who is also the Minister of Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment said this on Saturday while addressing a rally at Magaranhewe Village in Rushinga.
“The coming elections are decisive in determining the future of the country. We have been in this inclusive Government with Morgan Tsvangirai and his party and they have proved that they have nothing to offer this country. Zanu-PF is the only party that has shown that it has workable programmes for Zimbabweans and this is because we have a leader in President Mugabe, who has shown that he has the interests of the people at heart,” he said. Cde Kasukuwere said President Mugabe had led the struggle for Zimbabwe’s independence and also gave the land back to indigenous people.
“Not only did he lead the fight for independence, he also delivered land to the people and now we are in the last leg of that struggle by taking complete ownership of our resources.
“There is no party or leader who has shown such commitment and the MDC-T and its leader Tsvangirai are only there to protect the interests of whites,” Cde Kasukuwere said.
Meanwhile, Zanu-PF Mashonaland Central provincial chairman Cde Dickson Mafios has urged the party supporters to register in their thousands.
“Our message is clear, let us all go out and register and also check whether our names appear in the voters’ roll.
“We want to reclaim the seats that we lost to the MDC-T and we can only do that if all our members are registered,” Cde Mafios said. He also spoke against political violence and repeated President Mugabe’s call for peaceful elections.
“We do not want anyone to be beaten up during the coming elections. The President has spoken against violence so we should all be peaceful in our campaigns,” he said.
The Zanu-PF Mashonaland Central provincial leadership set up 35 teams that went across the province to mobilise supporters to register to vote and ensure that the party’s structures are in place.
Rallies were held in Rushinga, Nyamatikiti, Makachi, Mazhirapazhe on Saturday while others were slated for Muzarabani and surrounding areas yesterday.
At another rally, Harare South legislator Cde Hubert Nyanhongo urged residents to register to vote in preparation for harmonised elections to be held by July 31.
Addressing hundreds at Pungwe — Chimurenga Eyecourt yesterday, Cde Nyanhongo said the public needed to be mobilised to ensure that they voted in support of Zanu-PF. “Preparation is key.
“We are telling people to register as well as to collect their identity documents to facilitate the voting process. Time is running out. Harare South residents must be ready to support the constituency and the party,” he said.
Cde Nyanhongo appealed for unity within the party during this time.
“Let us speak the same language and stand united as one party led by President Mugabe.
“Even as we head towards primary elections, let us not be divided but go ahead to the harmonised elections as a strong party,” he said.
