ACTRESS Tinopona “Tin Tin” Katsande has promised to donate sanitary wear to less privileged women.
She said she was pushing the pad drive with her friends to ensure the women get proper sanitary wear.
“My friends and I are doing this pad drive to reach a target of 1 000 pads by the end of February.
“We are going to donate sanitary wear to Murewa and Mutoko District hospitals as well as Epworth.
“We are donating to women, who are not just cervical cancer fighters, but all women in the ward or outpatients with any gynaecological condition/disorder.
“Even urimukadzi mbinga, the amount of money you spend in a year on sanitary wear, would be better spent investing in your projects or even buying that designer brand than pads, tampons and menstrual cups,” she said.
She encouraged well-wishers to assist her in this drive.
“We have drop off points at hair salons across town, such as Hair Motion Salon and Gerald Dudzirayi Munemero Hair Salon at Windermere Court at the corner of Mazowe Street and Five Avenue.”
Tin Tin also opened up about how she is fighting cervical cancer.
“Radiotherapy is starting this week. I’ve decided to shave my hair. My heart is sore and my mind is fuzzy.
“Imagine, I used to shave my hair over the years in solidarity with friends afflicted by cancer. I used to shave my hair by choice then.
“Never in a million years did I think I would be forced to do so as is happening now,” she said.
“Emotionally and mentally so far I feel I am doing really great with the chemo. I’ve been keeping positive and refusing to tolerate issues that stress me.
“I’ve been keeping my mind busy, my body as healthy as I can, because cancer feeds off stress.
“I’m surrounded by love. I know I will be fine,” she said.
