THE controversial saga involving US rapper, RnB star Chris Brown and RnB star Kehlani has taken a new twist, as Zimbabwe born America-based pop star Tinashe has taken sides on the issue.
Tinashe, who released a smashing collaboration track — Player with Chris Brown last year, has seemingly taken Kehlani’s side in the matter, where Brown was poking fun at Kehlani’s suicide attempt about a fortnight ago.
Following his controversial comments about Kehlani’s suicide attempt last week, Brown received backlash from his collaborators including Zendaya and Tinashe, who reportedly have since unfollowed him on Twitter.
According to an online source a fan pointed it out to Brown, who responded with a diss.
“They called and needed my help, not the other way around,” he wrote on Instagram.
“I’ve been around for a bit, so these ‘celebrities’ fade out musically if they aren’t original or let’s face it, actually talented.”
When asked about his comments during an interview with San Francisco’s KMEL, Tinashe said she “laughed it off.”
“I felt like it was just so unnecessary,” said the 2 On singer.
“I was just like, ‘Whatever.’ . . .That’s just so unnecessary. I just think it’s silly. It’s petty. What’s the benefit?”
Tinashe went on to say that she didn’t bother talking to Brown about it either.
“It’s not even worth it,” she added.
“It’s not a big deal to me. I don’t think that follows on Twitter are a big deal . . . If I see him, I would love to speak to him. I would love if he reached out. I have absolutely nothing against him. We were on good terms as far as I know.”
Despite being on good terms with Brown, Tinashe explained why it was “not nice” to see comments about Kehlani’s apparent suicide attempt online.
“It was just a lot,” she said.
“It’s always hard when everything that’s really personal is just on social media in general. It’s just a messy situation. It’s not nice. It’s not nice to see. It’s not fun. It’s not positive,” said Tinashe.
Brown and Kehlani’s saga dates to a fortnight ago when the latter attempted suicide over an alleged love triangle.
On hearing the news on the attempt on her own life Brown blasted the Did I singer and her rumoured love triangle with PARTYNEXTDOOR and NBA star Kyrie Irving.
He took to Twitter on the eve of 29 March this year to unload a series of subliminal tweets in support of his friend Irving.
“Girls be mad at a n**** for f****** around wit’ b****** but her DMs got more names then the Declaration of Independence. #YEAHIMTHROWINGSHADE,” he tweeted, before seemingly dissing PND and Kehlani.
Also known as Breezy, Brown didn’t hold back, also weighing in on Kehlani’s apparent suicide attempt.
“There is no attempting suicide,” he wrote. “Stop flexing for the gram. Doing sh** for sympathy so them comments under your pics don’t look so bad . . . OK IM DONE. Guess she gone have to watch the games from a real “box” now. “THE TELEVISION” #OHB “OUTTA HERE BIH,” he tweeted.
Still on his twitter rampage he wrote: “I’ll be the BIGGEST PIECE OF ?? But Ima ride for my Homies regardless. KYRIE is probably one of the only good guys left. IDGAF!!!”
Kehlani was hospitalised after accusations of infidelity were hurled at her online.
She and PARTYNEXTDOOR were pictured in bed while she was still rumoured to be in a relationship with Irving.
“After all the shenanigans, still got the R&B singer back in my bed,” the OVO crooner captioned the flick.
Then, in a since-deleted post, Kehlani acknowledged her suicide attempt and denied rumors of infidelity.
“Today I wanted to leave this earth,” she wrote.
“Being completely selfish for once. Never thought I’d get to such a low point. But . . . Don’t believe the blogs you read . . . No one was cheated on and I’m not a bad person . . . Everyone is hurt and everyone is in a place of misunderstanding. But as of today, I had no single wish to see tomorrow. But God saved me for a reason, and for that . . . I must be grateful. Cuz I’m not in heaven right now for a reason . . .”
