CHINA-BASED Zimbabwean actress, Violet Gonamombe, reckons the secret to success is to never give up.
The Tiriparwendo actress left the country in 2013, searching for greener pastures, and has settled in China.
Prior to her move, the 32-year-old worked at ZBC (Pockets Hill Studios) from the age of 14 as a Teen Scene presenter.
She says it helped her to gain confidence.
She then joined Kidznet and later acted in Tiriparwendo as Dudzai.
Her inspiration at the time, she said, was Aaron Chiundura-Moyo who she worked with closely in Tiriparwendo.
Chiundura-Moyo was the executive producer of the show.
Gonamombe has been travelling and making documentaries in countries like Sri Lanka, India and Indonesia about arts and culture.
Currently, she is in the Philippines.
“I am the founder of Avylet Studios and am embarking on a journey to become a full-time YouTuber, vblooging and making documentaries.
“Recently, I toured Sri Lanka with Ugandan popular YouTuber MR BMG.
“I was inspired by my long-time friend Wode Maya, whom I learned a-lot from.
“I love travelling, and I enjoy my work.
“It’s something challenging because it is an industry that is dominated by male artists and, as a mother and a wife, I end up spending months away from home, away from family and sometimes we miss home.”
She added:
“I cannot say it’s a success now but it’s going to be, they say Rome was not built in one night, it’s difficult for a woman, especially a mother, to be a globetrotter.
“My secret is to never give up, we keep on trying, we fail today but tomorrow we wake up and try again.
“I encourage all other women to be vigilant and protect what they believe in, work and dominate all those industries that were previously dominated by men.
“I was also inspired by Tyler Perry, he even tweeted that he believed in me.”
