Lashanna Hall and Pretence Gonyesa were crowned first and second princesses. Tiwaringe and Hall will automatically represent Harare at the Miss Zimbabwe contest scheduled for later this year. Tiwaringe was ecstatic about her accomplishments.
“I have competed in many pageants and I am happy that I won the top prize. I am grateful to the organisers for giving us the opportunity to showcase our talent and the other girls put up a real good fight,” said Tiwaringe.
The former Face of Chitungwiza 2011 and reigning Miss Southern Africa said she was ready for the new challenge.
“I have always wanted to represent Harare and I want to do my best and raise the country’s flag high,” she said.
The Miss Harare licence includes satellite towns like Ruwa, Beatrice, Norton and Chitungwiza.
One of the organisers of the pageant, Deborah Chidavaenzi, said there was overwhelming response from models from the satellite towns.
“This year’s event was successful and as organisers we were thrilled with the overwhelming response we had from Harare and the satellite towns. We attracted the right models including those from other towns like Ruwa, Norton and Chitungwiza,” Deborah said.
Miss Harare ran under the theme “Developing the girl child through empowerment”.
This year will be the second time that Miss Zimbabwe Trust is organising the Miss Zimbabwe contest after taking over from the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority.
There are high hopes that the trust will this year get everything right and retain the glitz and glamour that was once associated with the national beauty pageant that groomed the likes of Angeline Musasiwa-Hunda, Bongani Dhlakama, Oslie Muringani and Vanessa Sibanda.
