TM allegedly loses US$40 000 to two workers

with fraud.
Tonganayi Garufu (24) and Tichafa Tiki (42) based at the supermarket chain’s head office made fake invoices on three different occasions purporting that a supplier had supplied goods, it is alleged.

It is alleged they would enter the invoices in the company’s system for payment. Garufu and Tiki were not asked to plead to the charge when they appeared before Mr Shane Kubonera on Tuesday.
They were remanded to August 9 on US$200 bail each.

Appearing for the State Ms Joyce Sithole alleges that between May 20 and July 4 this year, Garufu, Tiki and their accomplice (name not supplied) who is still at large, hatched a plan to defraud T.M Supermarket group.

Using a name of a supplier known to the company, it is alleged Garufu and Tiki made fake invoices in the name of that supplier. They purported the supplier had supplied goods to the supermarket, it is alleged.
It is further alleged that they would forge signatures of the supermarket’s signatories before record the invoices in the supermarket’s system for payment. The duo, the State says, would provide their accomplices account number where the money would be deposited.

It is alleged they would share the money among themselves. TM suffered a total prejudice of US$40 127 and only US$5 000 was recovered.
