Zimbabweans from all walks of life were recently shocked when a man decided to take his own life after he complained about his employer who was failing to pay his monthly salaries.
As writers we have long been talking of suicide but unfortunately our fellow Zimbabweans do not want to listen. Many people think that suicide is the solution after finding themselves in difficult situations.
People must learn to seek professional help from qualified counsellors whenever they are in problems.
We are living in hard times at the moment and as such most companies and employers are also struggling to pay decent salaries to their workers so as workers we need to approach workers’ committees or even their trade unions for a way forward than to kill ourselves over non-payment of our salaries.
Many people in the past have ended their lives after failing to achieve what they were targeting in life. Every week we read in the media about people who commit suicide after being heavily beaten in an election.
Last year during primary elections preparing for the harmonised elections we have people who lost their lives after being defeated when they expected to win convincingly.
Another person, a hard core criminal who knew he was about to be arrested for murder cases also thought it was the only solution to hang himself on a tree. Some even kill themselves after failing exams.
I know many people who ended their lives after being ditched by their partners. I advise the public that suicide is not the answer, life has to go on even under difficult conditions.
