Farmers have so far delivered over 223 million kg of tobacco to the floors, which is 22 percent lower than the 287 million kg that were delivered during the same period last year.

Farmers have so far pocketed nearly US$768 million compared to US$872 million during the same period last year.

Deliveries at the floors have decreased significantly as the marketing season reaches the tail-end.

Farmers are optimistic that the target of 265 million kg will be met. Statistics from Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) indicate that over 13 million kg worth US$47 million were delivered to the auction floors and 210 million kg worth US$ 721 were delivered to contract floors.

This year, the highest price is US$6,99, compared to US$6,10 from last year.
