CHICKEN Inn coach Tonderai Ndiraya wants his side to move the ball quicker when they face Triangle United at Barbourfields this weekend.
The Gamecocks were held to a 1–1 draw by Herentals at Rufaro in their opening Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match and the Bulawayo coach felt his team lost control once the tempo dropped after the break.
“We were slow in transition at times against Herentals,” said Ndiraya. “That is something we are working on as we prepare for the Triangle match.”
The Gamecocks showed encouraging signs in their first outing, particularly from new Malawian striker Rahim Binwell Katinji, who scored on debut, and looked sharp whenever Chicken Inn pushed forward.
Right back Sefu Louison also caught the eye with a steady performance that balanced defensive work with several attacking runs down the flank.
Ndiraya kept faith with several familiar faces from last season as Donovan Bernard, George Majika, Michael Charamba, Joseph Thulani, Itai Mabunu and Mpumelelo Bhebhe all started against Herentals.
Chicken Inn will host Triangle at Barbourfields after Luveve was declared unfit to stage league matches.
Inspectors from the Zimbabwe First Instance Body flagged several problems at the ground including damaged terraces, poor drainage on the pitch and the lack of proper facilities for teams, officials and the media.
The stadium will remain closed until the required upgrades are completed, forcing the Gamecocks to use Barbourfields for now.
Ndiraya’s focus though remains on the pitch as his side hunt their first win of the season when Triangle arrive in Bulawayo.
