Tongai’s look-alike

by the looks, Albert Moyo, who is the cousin of the late Utakataka Express frontman, fits easily into Dhewa’s shoes. The only problem is that he sounds like a broken record.

The 24-year-old Albert has been living in Botswana for the past 10 years and he admits he has become a Motswana by virtue of his native language over the years.
“Sorry, I have forgotten most of the Shona words though I am a Zimbabwean by birth. I have been living in Botswana for the greater part of my life. This is why I have forgotten some of the Shona words,” Albert said.

He said there were people who mistook him for the late sungura maestro but he took no offence.
“There are times when people call me Tongai and I don’t feel bad about it because there are people who have never met Tongai in real life, but only got to know him through videos and posters so I have no problems with that,” he said.

According to Albert he is such a bad singer that when he tries to sing he does not only sing off key but also sends his audiences to sleep.
“I know that music is not in my blood and I don’t wish to torment them with my lousy voice,” Albert said.
