Tongo turns to Vodacom Origins tour

Harare Bureau
AFTER continuously getting a raw deal from the Zambezi Tour, Tongo Charamba will be among the three local professional golfers expected to take part in this year’s Vodacom Origins presented by Samsung Qualifier at Arabella Country Club in Cairo, Egypt, in two weeks’ time.
The trio of Charamba, Greg Bentley and Ignatius Mketekete have confirmed their participation in the event.

Zimbabwean professional golfers have not been very active either at home or on the Sunshine Tour with all the 46 players missing last week’s Sun City Challenge.

This year the local professionals have also not seen much action on the Zambezi Tour who have not yet released a calendar since the Zimbabwe Open took place.

Bentley was the most active player on the Sunshine Tour, since the season began, despite his struggles to make the cut.

Ryan, who is exempted in all the tournaments on the Sunshine Tour, was also active making a couple of cuts but the year hasn’t been good for him.

Cairns remains the best ranked on the order of merit where he is sitting on position 51st after winning R225, 520.18 in earnings.

Ignatius Mketekete is the second best placed player on the Sunshine Tour order of merit where he sitting in 155st place.
