Of special note were her two columns, Making a Difference, published by The Herald on Saturdays, which recently featured articles on the rape and murder of 11-year old Tsitsi Stacey Munjoma whose body was found dumped in a maize field in Rugare.
Her other column is Talking Aids, published since 2004, first in The Herald and lately, in the H-Metro.
Tonhodzayi-Ngondo dedicated her award to all women and girls saying she would keep using her God-given talent of communicating, until the world is safe for women and girls.
She hailed the Zimpapers Group for giving space to columns that make a difference in people’s lives, such as Talking Aids and Making A Difference, saying by doing that the company was actually giving back to the community.
Speaking at the awards dinner, CBZ Holdings chairman Mr Luxon Zembe, who was guest of honour at the event, called on corporates to invest in a sustainable future for the country by giving back to the societies they operate in.
“We need to care about profits, the planet (environment) and people if we want to be blessed,” he said.
Companies; among them Mbada Diamonds, CBZ, ZB Bank and Nyaradzo Funeral Services; were also honoured for their corporate social responsibility programmes.
