Dubbed “The Big Reunion Party”, the gig opened at 12 noon with scores of music lovers including the young at heart thronging the sports club for what turned out to be memorable night.
The mature, the youths and the old came together on one dance floor to celebrate the New Year in style.
No one was starved of their favourite music as the DJs on rotation delivered their best in sound.
Among the DJs who rocked the masses were the UK-based Kelvin “Kdza” Sifelani aka The Soul Supreme S, Daves “The Cool Mo Dee” Mugadza, Tendai “The Sweet Thang” Chakanyuka, Smiley of the Usadaro Fame, DJ L Roy, Tafadzwa “DJ Squilla” Sikwila, Bridget “Bubblez” Gavanga, to mention but a few.
The women came dressed to kill while men clad in whatever trendy outfits that they could find in their wardrobes. So organised was the party that it attracted people from the Northern suburbs who ordinarily go to upmarket clubs.
But everything was in place courtesy of Goldtech Electronics, Pentagon Freight Services and ZimCafe who put together the logistics for the smooth running of the gig.
And hours before the countdown to 2013, the merry mood was in overdrive with both tents pitched outside filled up to the brim. To everyone’s credit, there were no incidents of violence as revellers danced and drank the night away. And when the clock struck 12 midnight the crowd went wild screaming “Happy New Year!”
From then on the party continued unabated with DJs on rotation playing all the 2012 club hits.
Fears that the bar would run dry proved unfounded, thanks to Huggies Entertainment for partnering Afdis who made sure the bars dotted around the venue had enough to last until dawn.
People drank themselves to a stupor, mixed and mingled making the party an unforgettable experience. Phew! What a way to celebrate New Year.
