TOP Zimbabwean economist Brains Muchemwa bashed his wife after accusing her of using juju to bewitch him.
He appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi over the weekend charged with physical abuse and threats of violence.
The complainant is his wife Blessing Kumbirai Muchemwa.
The court heard that on September 2, Blessing was on her way to pick up her kids from school when she missed several calls from her husband.
She returned the calls but the couple didn’t speak for long because of the poor network.
She got home and waited for Brains who returned home just after 10.30pm.
Her husband ordered her to sit down so that they could talk.
Brains started accusing his wife of using juju to bewitch him.
He went on to say that he was going to beat her up and share the attack on Twitter to expose her.
Blessing is said to have apologised and told her husband that she loved him, and their family, and she was not using any juju on him.
This infuriated Brains who started to assault his wife.
After the beating, she filed a police report.
