Top five girly cars

Fact Jeke Behind the Wheel
For the last instalment for the year 2011, I have my girls in mind.
I’m talking about the girls who can buy their own rides and the girls who get spoilt too by “DADDY” or hubby every once in a while. The girls who won’t hesitate and won’t compromise when it comes to that spunky, sexy and unforgettable set of wheels all glazed up with a fancy interior and cute seats and a curvaceous exterior.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying men shouldn’t drive these cars, it’s just that women are strikingly fond of them. It was tricky narrowing down to just five, there were several others that could easily have made the bill, but here are my favourites. They are not in any order babes . . . so don’t say ndakati VW Beetle ndiyo number one, make your own decision. Now down to it…

VW Beetle
Although the new beetle is supposedly more “manly” than its predecessor, let’s face it, they’re never going to be able to shake off that flower power vibe. The retro styling of the “old” new Beetle with its rounded headlights, iconic curvaceous silhouette, candy colour scheme and flower vase are undeniably girly.
The stylish new Beetle is definitely more edgy and modern, but it’s still a cute, albeit slightly less bulbous bubble car! Glamorous girls are going to love the new sparkly diamondesque LEDs. It also comes in a cool palette of colours including Denim Blue, Candy White and Saturn yellow. Personally, the Candy White would have me gaga because I can have it with a black nappa leather interior – nothing beats the rich smell of well stitched leather.

Fiat 500
The Fiat 500 oozes style and sophistication. It offers fashionistas the opportunity to show off their personal style with 500 000 possible trim, colour and option combos. Designer collaborations that the fairer sex will love include the Barbie edition complete with a range of lip-glosses in the glovebox and a light up vanity mirror, as well as the Fiat 500 by Gucci.
This car is chic, distinctive and great for a girl about town. The drop top will have everyone wishing they were you, with sunnies or your forehead, the breeze running through your locks hairs as you drive to the lake with the girls.

The Mini Cooper
Minis are adored for their button cute styling. They’re compact, zippy and fun to drive, come dressed in some eye-catching hues and look prettier still as a cabriolet. This car has teenage girls around the world begging their fathers for one, and dreaming of a custom pink paint job.
Back home in Zimbabwe, I have found it really annoying seeing a few men driving this baby on our streets. If you ask me such men should be arrested and charged with abuse, ha ha ha. This car I love, fell in love with the retro sibling years ago, but the new mini, I’m completely converted, there is no turning back I tell you.

Mazda MX-5
A highly coveted car which drives people to exclaim that it’s a hairdresser’s car and deem it overtly feminine. They’re just jealous it’s so petite and delicately formed! Some even mock it for being a bad car, but these people are idiots frankly.
What it slightly lacks in speed and power, the MX-5 truly makes up for in handling. This car is adored by enthusiasts the world over. and rightly so, it’s a brilliant two-door sports car. I mean if you are a hot chic, you possess speed and power yourself so all you need is great handling from point A to B in a spunky set of wheels.

Smart four-two
It’s essentially been proven that men generally have better spacial awareness than women and therefore are better at parking, so this tiny car is a godsend for women who find the feat a little on the tricky side.
The four-two can be parked at whatever angle in the smallest of spaces. It’s affordable, hugely economical, easy to drive and available with pick-and-mix colourful body panels and cheerful interior fabrics. It’s perfect for popping to the shops. Trim names such as Pure, Pulse and Passion. All these three trims make up our vocabulary.
We literally have the three Ps wrapped around our fingers all the time with the last P being a very addictive problem which we love to always have.
So there you have it, my top five girly cars. So till 2012, be safe and responsible, don’t be a statistic and may God richly bless you in the year 2012 and beyond. We have had a year to remember, let’s always be thankful.
