to November 4.
White is an International Judo Federation approved expert and is the current chairman of the British Judo Association. He is also a world championship bronze medallist, a Commonwealth Games gold medallist and a three-time Olympian.
White also holds a Bachelors degree in Sports Performance from the University of Bath and is also Head Sports Director for the European Judo Union. The IJF-approved technical expert White will be assisted in conducting this course by local coach Tatenda Guta, a recipient of a three-month Olympic Solidarity technical scholarship in the United States two years ago.
Anna Mguni, the ZOC chief executive, said yesterday that the course will “upskill over 20 coaches drawn from Mashonaland, Matabeleland and Mas-vingo with up-to-date technical knowledge based on a solid foundation of sports science and long-term athlete development which they can impart to their trainees”. Run out of the Innovate High Performance in Harare, the course will be officially opened next Wednesday with ZOC president Admire Masenda and Debi Jeans, the president of JAZ, doing the honours.
Mguni said JAZ are deeply grateful to ZOC for facilitating this opportunity to provide the direction and motivation to launch a new national coaching structure through which judo can be taught at schools, clubs and as part of sports physical conditioning training throughout Zimbabwe.
