VICTORIA Falls-based crew Top Kings have released a song titled Rezawayo, an offering which seeks to caution youths on the importance of practising safe sex.
Top Kings are identical twins, Nkosenhle and Nkosilathi Ncube who are musicians, songwriters and actors born in 2000.
In an interview, Nkosenhle said the song is about the dangers of not using protection in sexual relationships.
“The song is about a character called Mr Culture who is blaming his friends for not cautioning him on a particular girl who has infected him with a sexually transmitted infection.
“It is about regret that the character is facing and this is the case with most youths who end up in regret and suffering from several sexually transmitted infections as a result of having many sexual partners,” said Nkosenhle.
Nkosenhle said the goal is to spread a message to the public on the dangers of not practising safe sex.
“The people must know the dangers of blindly trusting anyone that they meet, our main message is that people must stay away from double dating and not practising safe sex,” he said.
He said that the motivation is the increase in the spread of cases of sexually transmitted diseases amongst the youth.
“The main motivation in writing this song is the continued spread of sexually transmitted diseases amongst the youth and the need to promote safe sexual practices,” said Nkosenhle.
