VETERAN Hwange striker Gilbert Zulu has been ruled out from the Zim Leopards encounter due to suspension.

Zulu leads the Southern Region Division One scorers’ chart with seven goals from 11 games and is in the running for the Nokel Security Top Goal Scorer of the Month for June with four goals.

He is suspended alongside Elisha Zulu of Makomo after accumulating three yellow cards.

In as much as Makomo need Elisha for their home game against tricky Plumtree-based side Mainline, it is Hwange, who have been hard hit as Gilbert is enjoying good form and scored a brace against Makomo last weekend.

Hwange face Leopards at Gifford High School.

Gilbert will also be hoping that none of the players from teams that have played 11 games score more than three goals so that he bags the June top scorers’ gong.

Casmyn and Makomo have played a game less than the rest of the teams and the Nokel Security accolade is given to players after every four games.

Casmyn’s Never Dube has scored two goals in June and should he get a brace, he will share the $200 prize money with Gilbert. A hat trick for Dube against Toronto will see the Casmyn player beating Gilbert to the monthly accolade.

Makomo striker Morgan Mungombe, who has five goals, scored a single goal in June and can bang in the goals on a good day. Mungombe needs at least three goals to land a share in the June cake.

Last month Leopards’ striker Malvin Dube, who missed the early matches of the season with injury, shared the Nokel Security award with Tatenda Ushe of Moto Moto after scoring three goals each from four outings.
