A 23-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo tout, who took mahewu on credit from a 39-year-old vendor, assaulted the man when he demanded his 50 cents payment. Savious Dube, 23, of Njube suburb appeared before magistrate Abednico Ndebele facing an assault charge.

He pleaded guilty.

Dube slapped Collen Madziva of Iminyela suburb on the face after he demanded his money.

He told the court that he assaulted Madziva because he said bad things about his mother.

He said he had a misunderstanding with Madziva over mahewu that he took but could not pay the money on time.

“I became angry when Madziva insulted me. I took Madziva’s mahewu on credit. I will give him his money when I get it,” said Dube.

Prosecuting, Stewart Madzore said on February 19, 2015 at 12.30PM at D Square Nketa Drive Dube assaulted Madziva.

“He slapped him once on the right eye and punched him once on the nose intending to cause Madziva bodily harm or realising that there is a real risk or possibility that bodily harm may result,” the prosecutor said.

The court heard that Madziva did not go to hospital, although he bled from the nose.

Ndebele fined Dube $50.
