A Zengeza tout has been accused of pocketing money meant for the funeral of a murdered Chitungwiza minor.
The tout, popularly known as Maskiri, bought a dozen bread, and vegetables before he handed US$6 to the bereaved family after collecting money from fellow touts.
He however, denies any wrongdoing saying he should be thanked for helping out.
Irked by his decision to bring food instead of the actual money he collected, one of the touts claimed Maskiri had not surrendered all the cash he collected.
“Maskiri skilfully pocketed the money he collected from other touts for the funeral.
“He bought food instead of surrendering all the cash he had collected taking advantage of shortage of food at the funeral that has taken more days.”
One of the bereaved family members told H-Metro that Maskiri confirmed sharing part of the cash with his two other three touts to cover the time wasted during the collection of the money.
“Yes, Maskiri bought groceries that included a dozen bread, vegetables, and milk and handed US$6 cash he wanted varoora kuti vatenge huku.
“We do not know how much he had collected but he told us that he shared with the other two touts who helped him in collecting the money since they had left their work,” said the family member.
Meanwhile, the minor, Truth Maphosa’s father Mike Maphosa has delayed burial demanding an answer from his ex-wife Nomsa Sengwe over the callous murder of his son.

Mike, a gold panner, attended the funeral accusing Nomsa of causing the death of Truth under her jilted lover Simbarashe Ashton Machipisa.

He returned to his tunnel promising to get back after he gets an answer from Sengwe family.
Some mourners, dressed for the burial were forced to change their black attire yesterday following news that Mike blocked the burial.
Mike could not be reached for his side of the story. Truth was reported to have been strangled and slammed against the wall by Nomsa’s jilted lover Simbarashe.
Nomsa had slept at her new lover’s house when Simbarashe terrorized her children and killed Truth in full view of the five other kids.
Contacted for comment, Maskiri denied abusing the money he collected saying his intention was to assist since Simbarashe was one of Bherma Valley mahwindi group.
“Vanhu vanotaura kwavasina kuswera,” said Maskiri.
“People are spreading falsehoods that I misused the funeral money which I collected.
“I decided to engage Bherma Valley team yemahwindi to solve shortage of food at the funeral.
“I managed to collect US$48 and bought groceries. I added my US$6 after some mourners pleaded for meat. Simbarashe was one of us touts and he did something very bad.
“We saw it better to assist and I also assigned my wife to be by Nomsa’s side since she was threatening to take her life over this matter.
“There was nowhere I would have misused the money I collected and at the same time, those spreading falsehood do not know how much I collected.”
