Town United face sanctions

TROUBLED Beitbridge outfit Town United, who failed to fulfil their third match in the Central Region Division One league, now face sanctions after they were summoned for a hearing.The troubled club failed to turn up for their match against Chomumvuri and the Region’s leadership have now decided it was time the team was brought to account for their actions.

Town United affiliated with the Central Region before Beitbridge Town Council withdrew their sponsorship package.

The team now belongs to the community but they have not fulfilled a single fixture since the league got underway three weeks ago. Coah Gishon Ntini has since left the club.

The Central Region leadership also have to decide the fate of the abandoned match between Tongogara and Gaths Mine.
The tie at Gaths Mine was deadlocked 2-2 when it was abandoned, because of poor light, after a number of delays.

“We had to wait for several hours before the referees arrived and the game only started at around 15:50hrs,” a source told The Herald.
Tongogara, who trailed the hosts in the first half, scored through Muchengeti Gumbo and Justice Mwale to level matters in the second half. Tongogara are yet to lose but surrendered top spot to Whawha who beat Nkayi United 4-0.
