TRADITIONAL dance group, Zimbabwe Culture Insight Group, will raise the Zimbabwean flag high in Colombia when they participate at a musician-dance show that represents the beauty and diversity of African cultures.
The 17th international festival of traditional dances will take place from September 28 to October 1.
Zimbabwe Culture Insight Group founder, Michael Mapuranga, told H-Metro the experience will help them tell the Zimbabwean story to other countries.
“Participating will create tremendous opportunities and long lasting cooperation of international cultural exchange programmes for the youth in Zimbabwe with American countries.
“We aim to create opportunities for education and uplift local talents for empowerment and development of Zimbabwean youths.
“Participating will help us to highlight the successful work we have been developing with the conviction and commitment to generate progress and cultural development in our county,” he said.
He said this will assist in celebrating the cultural life of a beautiful and fascinating country with artistic groups that will represent several Latin American countries.
“Our invitation to participate at the occasion is one of our greatest achievements as our work and efforts are finally recognised by the international community.
“We managed to start a small income generating project so as to assist our members with school fees and conduct our culture exchange programmes.
“We have managed to do successful culture exchange programmes with youth groups from South Korea and China.”
