A Sunningdale Indrive driver lost his car and cash to armed robbers.
Mannex Nyengedza, 29, lost his red Toyota Passo (AGN 1950) after he was hired by four armed robbers from the Central Business District and later dumped along Old Mazowe Road.
One of the robbers sat on the front passenger seat while the other three took the back seat.
Upon approaching Old Mazowe Road, the robber who was on the front seat put the handbrake on.
Another robber, who was at the back seat, produced an unidentified pistol and pointed it on his head.
He was dragged from the driver’s seat, searched, and had a Itel P36 cellphone and US$380 stolen from him. He sustained a swollen forehead.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case saying police recovered the vehicle dumped in a ditch along Lorraine Drive and without damages.
“Police are investigating an armed robbery case involving an InDrive. One of the accused persons took control of the vehicle and drove off.
“The accused later dumped him, and he was assisted by a well-wisher and he managed to call the owner of the vehicle,” said Insp Chakanza.
