Traffic cop sues driver for fraud

on allegations of defrauding and stealing from her.

Nyengedzerai Masuku, of Flat K in Ross Camp and is the owner of a fleet of taxis trading as City Line Taxis accused Amos Fly (25), of 4482 Gwabalanda of prejudicing her of a combined amount of $418 after misrepresenting to her on several occasions.

Fly was remanded in custody to 15 January when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Tawanda Muchemwa facing two counts of fraud and one of theft.

Allegations against Fly as presented by Miss Tarisai Mutarisi are that on 12 November last year, he proceeded to his employer’s flat where he misrepresented to her brother Mr Ndabakazipheli Masuku that Masuku had sent him to collect money.

The court heard that Fly was given $44 and went away.

On another day Fly went back to the same flat to park the taxi, but allegedly stole the spare wheel for the same vehicle he was driving, the court heard.

The spare wheel was valued at $250 and was not recovered.

Sometime again in November last year, on a day unknown to the prosecutor, Fly went to his employer’s flat where he found her paying other taxi drivers their week’s wages, the court was told.

It is alleged that Fly had already been paid his $64 being the weekly wage for the drivers, but he joined the queue once again and was allegedly paid for the second time.

Masuku later realised that she had allegedly been defrauded by Fly and phoned him.

The court heard that Fly promised to take the money back, but he never did thereby prompting his employer to report him to the police.
