complainant in the matter, said the equipment stolen was used in the intensive care unit for healing gunshot wounds, post-bomb injuries, amputations, abdominal and chest surgeries.
The medical doctor said this during the trial of AMI boss Peter Annesley, Mavis Mushonga and Paul Stevenson who are facing fraud charges involving US$10 million.
The trio, represented by Ms Beatrice Mtetwa and Mr Innocent Musimbe, is accused of fraudulently taking over Dr Solanki’s Trauma Centre medical facility.
They are appearing before regional magistrate Mr Clever Tsikwa.
Dr Solanki said; “We know what the AMI directors are doing. They are preparing for war.
“Why did they move the equipment from Maputo to Tete?”
He said he entered into a partnership with AMI but broke out of the alliance after discovering that they had links with Renamo in Mozambique.
Dr Solanki said the AMI started making death threats against him when he announced his withdrawal from the deal.
He said the fraudulent takeover of his hospital was done to fix him.
Dr Solanki said he built a hospital in Maputo for AMI which had similar equipment to that allegedly stolen from Trauma Centre.
He asked why they needed the same medical equipment for the same hospital.
“They are preparing for war in Mozambique.
“They cannot send such equipment to a country in peace. They are co-conspirators,” he said.
Dr Solanki, who was being led by prosecutor Mr Michael Reza, said Mushonga and Annesley did not have the powers to export equipment without his knowledge.
“I am the owner of Autoband Investments, I never sold the company. I am the owner of Streamleigh Investments, I did not sell it, I did not donate it and I am still the owner.
“AMI, by exporting the equipment, sabotaged the country not just myself that’s why we have our patients going to South Africa and other neighbouring countries for treatment,” he said.
Dr Solanki alleged that AMI directors through Ms Mtetwa had bribed officials from the Attorney General’s Office with US$150 000 so that they can institute criminal proceedings against him.
The trial continues today.
