Finance, Economic Development, and Investment Promotion Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube is next month scheduled to headline the Zimbabwe Capital Markets and Investment Promotion Conference in London, United Kingdom, as the country continues to seek ways to attract foreign capital.
Penciled in for June 10-11, the conference provides a platform for the country to showcase its investment potential to investors.
The London event will be a joint effort between the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (VFEX), Financial Markets Indaba (FMI) and the Zimbabwe Embassy in London.
Zimbabwe is looking to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) across all economic sectors, with a particular focus on mining, agri-processing, tourism, energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure. The conference will serve as a prime opportunity for the ministry to showcase the projects being undertaken by the Government.
The investment promotion roadshows are gaining traction and attracting global attention as investors seek untapped potential and a variety of investment opportunities. Building on the success of the inaugural Zimbabwe Capital Markets Conference held in London in 2023, and its subsequent editions in Beijing, Shanghai, and Johannesburg this year, these investment forums are expected to be even more innovative, decisive, and impactful for delegates.
“The conference’s primary objectives are to create a platform where Zimbabwe’s deal flow and its true potential will be on display,” said FMI managing director Mr Patrick Muzondo.
“The platform is highlighting opportunities across a wide range of sectors, outlining strategic capital allocation avenues for institutional investors, investment firms, and the diaspora into various asset classes.
“Zimbabwe’s burgeoning capital markets landscape presents numerous investment prospects across various sectors, offering significant returns and contributing to economic growth,” he said.
Since its launch, the VFEX has become a globally competitive platform for capital raising, which should ultimately transform Victoria Falls, the country’s tourism capital into an appealing offshore financial services centre.
“The forum will outline pathways for investors to realize liquidity and fair pricing of their investments through Zimbabwean listed markets,” said Mr Muzondo.
The conference will feature presentations from representatives of key industry sectors, companies listed on VFEX delivering presentations showcasing their operations, investor opportunities, and projects requiring support.
Plenary sessions will feature panel discussions involving investment firms, corporates, regulators, and senior government officials. These discussions aim to foster engagement with delegates and participants on topics such as opportunities, policies, efforts to mitigate investment risks and costs, and enhancing the attractiveness of the local economy.
The conference is expected to attract a diverse group of stakeholders, including high-profile investors, industry leaders, and policymakers. This gathering will not only provide a platform for robust dialogue on Zimbabwe’s economic potential but also facilitate networking opportunities and strategic partnerships.
FMI, the organisers of the conference are upbeat it will further cement Zimbabwe’s position as a promising investment destination, leveraging its natural resources, strategic location, and ongoing economic reforms to drive sustainable growth and development.
