FORMER ZIFA executive committee members were back in court yesterday where their trial date was set for January 3 next year.

Ex-ZIFA boss, Felton Kamambo, Philemon Machana, Stanley Chapeta and Bryton Malandule, as well as suspended CEO Joseph Mamutse, appeared before Harare regional magistrate Stanford Mambanje.

Allegations are that on November 16 last year the Sports and Recreation Commission suspended the entire executive committee for gross incompetence and alleged misappropriation of funds.

Following the suspension, Kamambo and his committee had no authority to transact any business on behalf of ZIFA orally or in writing.

But, the State said, between January and February 2, they connived to write letters using the ZIFA letterhead suspending some members of the ZIFA congress.

Due to their action, the affected ZIFA congress members were incapacitated and were unable to execute tasks on behalf of the national association.

Oscar Madhume appeared for the State.
