THE suspended Zifa executive committee was back in court yesterday and a trial date was set for February 16.

Suspended Zifa president, Felton Kamambo, appeared together with his alleged accomplices Philemon Machana, Stanley Chapeta, Joseph Mamutse and Bryton Malandule before Harare regional magistrate Stanford Mambanje.

Allegations are that on November, 16, 2021, the SRC suspended the entire executive committee for gross incompetence and misappropriation of the association’s funds.

According to the State’s allegations, the legal consequence of the suspension meant they had no authority whatsoever to transact any business on behalf of ZIFA, orally or in writing.

Allegations are that after the suspension, and during the period between January and February 2 last year, the suspected executive wrote letters to ZIFA congress members suspending them from their positions.

Their actions caused prejudice to the good administration of ZIFA.

Kennedy Madekutsikwa appeared for the State.
