Triangle United sponsors Tongaat Hulett on Tuesday night hosted a cocktail party for the team to celebrate their stunning achievements in winning the NetOne OneWallet Cup.
The party was hosted at Triangle Country Club.
The event was graced by the company’s managing director, Sydney Mutsambiwa, human resources director Fred Nyangwe and senior management staff.
Triangle won the NetOne OneWallet Cup after beating Dynamos 4-3 in a penalty shootout at the National Sports Stadium.
Mutsambiwa was happy with the achievement just a few months after congratulating the team for being champions of Eastern Region Division One.
“You have managed to bring smiles to our faces and made the Lowveld alive again. Everyone, everywhere now knows of Triangle, if not for sugar then for soccer through you the Sugar Sugar Boys,” said Mutsambiwa.
“Biggie and the team you have really done a good job.
“Well done to you and the boys and to all behind the scenes at the club. You managed to win all your matches to bring home the trophy and US$80 000 in prize money and the team will enjoy the gains of their sweat and hard work.”
He also wished the team all the best in the remaining games and challenged them by doubling their winning bonuses from US$300 to US$600 per win starting with their game against CAPS United at home.
It’s probably the biggest winning bonus ever offered to a team in the Premiership.
Club chairman Lovemore Matikinyidze assured the sponsors that they were going to survive relegation. Triangle will play CAPS United (home), Chicken Inn (away), Hwange (home), Chiredzi (away) and Shabanie Mine (home).
