A RESURGENT Triangle FC beat visiting Black Mambas in a dull Castle Lager Premiership match played at Gibbo Stadium in Triangle yesterday.
An 83rd minute strike by super substitute Daniel Kamunhenga who came in for Tawanda Muyendi in the 78th minute gave Gishon Ntini a needed victory against the disjointed police side.

Kamunhenga benefited from a goal mouth melee when he sliced the ball into the nets past a cluster of Black Mambas defenders.

The match started at a low pace with both teams not showing any urgency and taking turns to miss glorious chances.

In the eighth minute Tawanda Muyendi missed a golden chance from the diminutive midfielder Lameck Nhamo’s perfect cross. Play then switched to Black Mambas’ favour in the 19 minute but instead of shooting, the advancing Honey Chimutimunzeve chose to dive under William’s challenge in anticipation of a penalty but he turned a villian when he was shown a yellow card by no-nonsense  referee, Nkosana Nduna.

In the 22nd minute Triangle chief marksman, Limited Chikafa fluffed an effort over the bar after being set up by Nhamo who had left his markers for dead.  Two minutes later action moved to the visitors’ end and it was Chimutimunzeve who failed to draw first blood when he missed what seemed to be his best chance of the day when he failed to connect a set piece from Godknows Mangani.

In the 38th minute Chikafa was at it again when he skied his effort after a nice build-up that involved Nhamo and Pardon Chinungwa.

After the breather, Triangle raised the tempo of the game and their strikers began to feature prominently in the goal area with Nhamo who had a subdued game by his standard giving Mambas defenders anxious moments.

In the 53rd minute, Nhamo was fouled a few metres from the 18-yard by Mambas defender Ben Nyaunzvi earning himself a yellow card. However, David Sengu’s effort from the freekick was punched out by an alert Tonderai Mateyaunga in goal for Mambas.

Ntini was elated and described his team as a good side with chances to stand its own
