Triangle, Hwange share spoils

Triangle……………………..(1) 2
Hwange……………………..(0) 2HWANGE were happy to leave Triangle with a draw in yesterday’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Gibbo Stadium.
“While we are happy with a draw, we came here in need of an outright win,” said Hwange goalkeepers’ coach Chenjerai Dube after the match.

The game which started with the hosts on the offensive was one of two different halves and as usual, Triangle failed when it mattered most.

Their lacklustre approach in the second half saw Hwange coming twice from the back to force a share of the spoils. Triangle scored in the fifth minute through industrious Courage Denias after a goalmouth melee. He ghosted from the blind side and shot into an empty net through a cluster of Hwange defenders to send the vociferous home fans into a frenzy.

The goal added impetus into the home side’s attack but after the breather, national team defender Eric Chipeta levelled the scoreline in the 56th minute from a harmless looking long cross that beat Ashley Reyners all systems out.

However, in the 61st minute super substitute Tawanda Muyendi restored Triangle’s lead after an exchange of passes involving strikers Misheck Mburayi, Limited Chikafa, Charles Makoto and Pasca Manhanga.

Muyendi had replaced the ineffective Daniel Kamunhenga in 51st minute. The match started at a fast pace with both teams withstanding the energy sapping heat. It was Triangle who dominated in the first minutes of the match that saw Takabva Mawaya spilling Chikafa’s effort, two minutes into the game.

Against the run of play, former national team trialist Munyaradzi Mungadze nodded home to level terms.  Triangle had to thank Gweru referee Rugare Kusosa who ended the match when Hwange were piling up pressure in pursuit of a win.
