TRIANGLE FC will host Buffaloes in a friendly match at Gibbo Stadium tomorrow. In an interview, coach Gishon Ntini said the match was meant to keep players fit given the long break. Castle Lager Premier Soccer League teams have played just a single game since the harmonised elections due to the national team commitments.
“We are playing a friendly against Buffaloes at home. I think there is need to shake off the rust since it has been long since we last played competitive football,” he said.
He said his charges had been affected by the break and he feared they may fail to rise to the occasion once real action resumes.
“I will use the friendly game to assess my boys’ level of fitness. My fear is that due to the long break, the youngsters may fail to withstand the pressure. It is obvious that if a player spends a long time without playing he tends to be off form.
“It is against this background that we are engaging Buffaloes who also need to remain focused so that they survive the chop,” he said.
The Triangle coach is upbeat ahead of the match despite some players being injured.
