Triangle FC 1-1 Simba Bhora

GHANANIAN international and Triangle top marksman Wilson Mensah’s second-half penalty kept the home side’s survival hopes alive as they salvaged an important point in a 1-1 draw against Simba Bhora in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played under scorching lowveld heat at Gibbo yesterday.

Simba Bhora captain Tinashe Balakasi had earlier scored a beauty of a goal two minutes before half-time after being gifted by Triangle goalkeeper Talbert Shumba. Instead of back paddling and collecting the ball easily inside his box, Shumba chose to clear but his headed effort unfortunately fell onto the path of the lethal striker who made no mistake scoring his ninth goal of the season and sending his team to ninth position on the log standings and closer to safety.

Triangle was then handed a lifeline when the referee pointed to the spot in the 64th minute after Simba Bhora defender Webster Tafa hacked down Never Rauzhi inside the box.

Mensah who takes penalty kick duties made no mistake from the spot sending Simba Chinani the wrong way scoring his seventh goal of the season.

With the single point earned Triangle managed to move out of the relegation zone to 14th position with 31 points edging out Sheasham and Yadah with goal difference.

Meanwhile Rodwell Dhlakama’s battling Greenfuel gave a good account of themselves when holding FC Platinum to a one all draw at Mandava Stadium yesterday afternoon.

With the point gained FC Platinum moved to second place on 47 points tied with Highlanders FC but enjoying a better goal difference.
