TRIANGLE midfielder Brian “Masebho” Juwayeyi has challenged his teammates to hand new-boys ZPC Kariba their first defeat of the season when the two clubs clash in a Castle Lager Premiership match at Gibbo today.
Juwayeyi has impressed for Triangle who lost 1-2 against CAPS United at the National Sports Stadium on Thursday.
He is the son of former Fire Batteries and Highlanders midfielder, Austin “Masebho” Juwayeyi.
ZPC Kariba remain unbeaten after their five starts into the season but Juwayeyi believes that Gwenya ReChamhembe’s fine run is coming to an end this afternoon. “We should have won the game against CAPS United but we failed to bury the chances we created early in the game.
“In the second half, our players had slackened in play and we allowed CAPS United to control the parts of game,” said Juwayeyi. Triangle are unbeaten in two matches at home this season and Juwayeyi is confident the fine home run will continue.
“We fought gallantly and we deserved a point but that was not the case against CAPS. I also think our goalkeeper (Ronald Mudimu) should have done better to stop the goals, but that is all part of the game. We hope to win the next game at home against ZPC Kariba. We have to fight very hard and there should be no excuses if we fail to win at home.
“So far we have done well in the season. It’s too early but we should move up the table.”
ZPC Kariba coach Saul Chaminuka is taking a cautious approach ahead of the trip to the Lowveld and is aware that Triangle would be tricky opponents in their backyard.
“It’s going to be a difficult game, especially with the fact that Triangle lost their last match. They will be at home and would want to make full use of the advantage,” said Chaminuka.
ZPC Kariba drew 0-0 with FC Platinum in their last match at Gwanzura and Chaminuka is concerned that fatigue will soon catch up with the Kariba-based side who are using Harare for their home matches. “This is a difficult week in that we are playing three games on the trot and it’s not easy if we are looking at the fitness levels of the players because we have travelled a lot.
“The players do not have enough time to recover, especially those who have mild knocks, but we definitely want to grind out a result,” said Chaminuka.
