DANGAMVURA-BRED Triangle central defender Chastein Ngondonga has expressed confidence in the ‘Shuga Shuga Boys’ and said they will survive relegation despite last Saturdays 0-1 defeat to ZPC Kariba. The One Wallet-Cup winners are currently sitting in the red zone on position 13 with 27 points, the same as Black Rhinos, while Bantu Rovers have 21 and Chiredzi 14.
With only five matches before the season ends, Ngondonga remains optimistic that his team will sail through and avoid relegation.
The defence stalwart is one of Triangle’s prized players, who joined the team in 2010 before it was promoted into the top-fight league.
The 30-year-old player has vast experience, having played for numerous teams like FC Victory, Nzuma Bar and Kariba-based Zambezi River FC, among others.
Ngondonga said their die-hard fighting spirit as a team was their trump card to escape the chop.
“We are not going to relax. We will fight extra hard until the end. Although we were beaten 1-0 by ZPC Kariba last Saturday, we are not discouraged.
“I would say we were just overzealous after defeating one of Zimbabwe’s biggest team, Dynamos, in the One Wallet Cup and lost concentration against ZPC Kariba.
“In the remaining five games, we will give it our best shot. Considering that we don’t have any other cup matches to play, this is going to work in our advantage since we will have more time to prepare for the remaining mathces,” said Ngondonga.
