AS the curtain comes down on the Schools Series event tomorrow at Mt Pleasant Pool, Triathlon Zimbabwe’s schools commission representative Tanyaradzwa Kasaira is optimistic they will conclude their activities on a high note.
The Series is part of the several events lined up for tomorrow as Triathlon Zimbabwe host their final full house competition before they head to Nyanga for the Bonaqua Africa Triathlon Cup and Multi-sport Festival on March 14.
However, the Schools Series is one of the highlights of the day. And tomorrow’s race is the third and final of the three held throughout the season.
The series features St John’s Prep School, Harare International School, St Michael’s Presentation Primary School, Hellenic, Abbeys Preparatory School, Wise Owl and Springvale House.
With 799 points from the two events staged so far, St John’s appear set to win the series again this year. St Michael’s are a distant second with 325 points, followed by Hellenic with 256.
“We are expecting about 70 children to participate in the final event of the Schools Series and we are going to have a great finish to this Series. Our current leaders are St. John’s Prep and with the difference I feel like they will take it this year,” said Kasaira.
Harare International School are fourth while Abbeys are fifth.
Wise Owl and Springvale House are sixth and seventh, and will be hoping to accumulate more points tomorrow.
Kasaira said they have had a good season so far.
“It’s been a good turnout this year, and I am glad of how the schools have supported Triathlon Zimbabwe this year. It’s been a good ride, and I feel like Triathlon Zimbabwe have been supported immensely by the schools,” added Kasaira.
The winners will get a trophy.
The national association will also present the team scheduled to represent the country at the South Africa Youth Championships on March 8.
