A Harare trio appeared in court yesterday accused of duping Premier Leaf Zimbabwe of over US$37 000.

The three, Silas Togo, Greater Chiendambuya and Tecla Chiradza were not asked to plead when they appeared before Harare magistrate Isheanesu Matova.

They were released on US$100 bail.

Togo is employed as a truck driver, while Chiendambuya and Chiradza are female vendors at TSF and they sell tobacco handling materials.

The court heard that in January and on different occasions, the three acted in connivance to defraud Tobacco Leaf Company.

The court heard that the trio’s accomplice, Effort Masimba Makota took advantage of being employed by the company as the Stores clerk and duplicated Collection Vouchers, which he gave his accomplices

The trio allegedly then teamed up and went to Tobacco Leaf Company Stores where they loaded property namely aquamol paper and STC boxes valued at US $ 37 550 into Togo’s work truck.

On February 1, the company conducted a stock take and discovered the offence.

CCTV cameras captured the trio committing the offence.

They were identified and a report was lodged with the police.

Togo was arrested by ZRP Southerton and implicated his accomplices.

They led detectives to Mbare Musika where they sold part of the stolen property to Sakamombo Chipo but nothing was recovered.
