Trio in court over drugs,dagga in Mabvuku

THREE suspected drug dealers appeared in court yesterday after they were allegedly found in possession of a large quantity of illicit drugs and dagga at a house in Mabvuku, Harare.

Lenon Zembe (27), Panashe Gusha (19) and Shingirai Shiridzinonwa (39) appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Artwell Sanyatwe facing charges of unlawful dealing in dangerous drugs and unlawful possession of unregistered medicines for sale.

The trio was remanded in custody to Friday pending a bail application.

The State alleges that on May 9, at around 3pm, police received information that occupants of House Number 11 Mudzi Street, New Mabvuku, were allegedly involved in drug dealing activities.

At around 4pm on the same day, police acted on the tip-off and proceeded to the house.

Upon arrival, detectives searched the premises and found the three accused persons inside.

The court heard that after questioning, the accused persons allegedly led police to the recovery of various medicinal substances and dangerous drugs.

Recovered items include three 100ml bottles of Benylin with codeine, 118 bottles of BronCleer syrup with codeine, one 100ml bottle of Astra Pain containing 12,5 percent alcohol, 51 bottles of Histalix D, 16 bottles of Histalix PP and 203 bottles of Novalyn syrup.

Police also allegedly recovered 6,846kg of loose dagga, 1,393kg of dagga seeds and US$2 658 in cash, which was allegedly concealed in one of the boxes containing dagga.
