TWO families from Matobo District and Pumula East in Bulawayo who were each blessed with a set of triplets are appealing for assistance to look after the children.
The couple from Nqama village in Matopo already had four children and were surprised to have triplets. They told Chronicle that they had not been prepared for the three children. The couple is seeking financial assistance to support their family of seven especially the newly born babies.
The triplets’ mother, Simphiwe Bhebhe, 30, said she gave birth to two boys and a girl without any complications.
She said the pregnancy had not been planned, she forgot to take her contraceptive pills.
“I am speechless, I don’t know whether to celebrate their birth or not because the situation is hard for us, this is above our powers and all we are asking for is anything to support our children,” said Bhebhe.
Her husband, Langton Ndlovu, 38, said it was the hardest and most difficult situation they had ever come across.
“We’re both not working and confused on how we’re going to manage such a big family which needs food on the table daily,” he said.
The couple said the children were a blessing from God and they had accepted the situation.
Another couple from Pumula East which was blessed with triplets – two boys and a girl – is also seeking assistance.
Buhlebenkosi Sibanda, 29, and Xolani Khumalo, 30, said they did not expect triplets and were surprised when they discovered that just a few weeks before Sibanda delivered.
Sibanda is unemployed while Khumalo is a Prison Officer at Mlondolozi Prison.
Sibanda, who delivered by Caesarian section, said they had not yet named the children as they were waiting for their babies to first get blessings from their pastor at General Foundation Church.
“These babies are a blessing from God, we were not prepared to receive them but we believe God will provide not forgetting all those who are willing to assist us raise our children,” she said.
Khumalo said he was surprised when he saw the triplets. “I just had mixed feelings. I felt like celebrating and at the same time was worried about how we were going to look after these babies,” he said.
