Tripple B maintain 11-point lead

The result saw the log leaders maintain an 11-point advantage after taking their points tally to 57 over their adversaries who have played a game less.

With each passing match, Tripple B director Eddie Kanyangu is seeing his project getting closer to Premiership football.

Tripple B neighbours and bitter rivals FC Strikers bounced back to winning ways when they dispatched Division Two bound Blanket Mine 2-0 to reduce the gap between them and the log leaders to 11 points.

Goals by Donald Madzinga and Patrick “Mboma” Mpofu ensured that Vavheneki returned to the border town with maximum points.

Strikers are now tied on 46 points with Chapungu because of an inferior goal difference but the former have two games in hand.

Vavheneki mentor, Never Malunga refused to throw in the towel and said his side will concentrate on winning the remaining matches and see what happens on the other side of town.

“We just need to hold our nerve in the remaining matches and win all of them and see what happens on the other side of town. We cannot afford to lose points now because the championship is still open,” Malunga said.

Chrome Stars continued with their purple patch when they edged gold miners Vumbachikwe 2-1 while inconsistent Hwahwa were held to a one-all draw by Silo.

New Zimsteel were 2-1 winners over young FC Platinum, a result which saw the steelmakers leapfrogging Vumbachikwe to fifth position on the log.

There was a seven-goal thriller at Colleen Bawn where visitors Town United got the better of Jessie Mine edging the Gwanda side 4 – 3.

Results: MSU 1 – 1 Airstars, Blanket Mine 0 – 2 FC Strikers, New Zimsteel 2 – 1 FC Platinum Under 19, Hwahwa 1 – 1 Silo, Jessie Mine 3 – 4 Town United, Chrome Stars 2 – 1 Vumbachikwe, Triple B 0 – 0 Chapungu

Tongogara were on bye.
