A TRUCK carrying sand rammed into a train at a railway level crossing in Kadoma last night, after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.

No fatalities were recorded.

However, the driver and one passenger had to be rushed to the hospital after they jumped out of the truck just before the crash.

In an X post this morning, the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) confirmed the incident.

“In yet another incident, a lorry carrying sand rammed into a train at a rail/road level crossing in Kadoma last night,” reads the post.

“Indications are that the driver of the vehicle lost control of the vehicle as it approached the level crossing at 11:00 pm. On realising this, the driver and his passenger jumped off the truck and left it to ram into the last two wagons of the train that was passing.

“The two men were rushed to the hospital, where they were treated and discharged.”

NRZ urged drivers to exercise extreme caution when approaching all level crossings and to avoid using defective vehicles.
