A 33-YEAR-OLD truck driver has been hauled to court facing theft of trust property worth US$38 600.

Benjamin Muringani was remanded in custody when he appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi.

He will be back in court today for his bail application.

Allegations are that on November 13, Muringani was given a truckload of mega spaghetti, which was to be offloaded in Harare.

Muringani, a driver at Freightliner Century Class Truck, left Mutare heading to Harare.

He allegedly tampered with the tracking system of the vehicle.

The court heard that he turned into Goromonzi Road where he unhooked the trailer from the horse and drove back to Mutare Road.

Muringani then dumped the horse along Tarisa Road in Ruwa.

It is further alleged that to cover up for his offence, he filed a robbery case at St Mary’s Police Station.

However, the tracking system reported that he never stopped at the said robbery scene.

Pardon Dziva appeared for the State.
